Begum Hazrat Mahal is a national scholarship

Begum Hazrat Mahal is a national scholarship for merit girls in minority communities offered by the ministry affairs. Earlier it was known as the Maulana Azad National Scholarship for Meritorious Girls belonging to Minorities. It was launched by the late prime minister Adal Bihari Vajpayee at the National Conference on Educational and Economic Development of Minorities. The main objective of putting forward this scholarship is to promote the girl students who lack financial support. The students shall get the scholarship amount, including the expenditure of school/college fees, the purchase of syllabus of books, the purchase of stationery/equipment required for the course, and the hostel fee. The scheme is implemented in the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), which is mandatory for all students should apply online through the website address is www.scholarships.gov.in.  

For the students studying in schools in class IX and X, the amount is Rs. 5000/- each, and in-class XI and XII, it is Rs. 6000 each. The selection of students is based on students achieving percentage marks in their previous examination and by the annual income of the parents/guardian. Scholarships will not be given to more than two students in a family of the same class. No renewal of scholarships is entertained in this scholarship since class 9th to class 12th is scheduled—students studying while in each class should be reapplied for the scholarship each year. Students who get any other scholarships from Central/ state shall not be allowed to get this scholarship under this scheme. For any reason, if the studies have been discontinued, the students cannot get this scholarship, so the students shall cancel the scholarship under this scheme.
