Ishan Uday Scholarship
The Ministry of HRD and the University Grand Commission organised a scholarship called Ishan Uday for weaker students in the North-Eastern region (NER) to promote higher education. Students with a domicile of NER, whose parental annual income does not exceed Rs.4.5 lakh per annum from all sources. Students who facilitate all these higher studies can get this scholarship for general degree courses, technical and professional courses, including medical and paramedical courses. Institutes of National Importance, Institutions recognised by other Statutory councils within and outside, admission should have been made in University/ Institution/ College with AISHE code can award this scholarship. And similarly, students who are excluded to get this scholarship if they pursue courses/programs through Open Universities, students already availing scholarship for pursuing the Undergraduate programme under any other scheme(s), gaining admission through „management quota‟, pursuing courses, such as Diploma Courses nor not leading to the certificate of a Degree.
The UGC allows fresh scholarships as more than 10,000 in number. Allocation of slots for each State shall be done based upon the respective State’s population. If the slots remain vacant in any particular State, the unfilled slots shall be distributed equitably among other States. There shall be a 3% horizontal reservation for differently-abled persons.
The amount of scholarship determined as Rs.5400/- per month for a general degree course and Rs.7800/- per month for technical/medical/professional/paramedical courses.
