Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme, J&K
(PMSSS) Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme is given to J & K students who pursue undergraduate programmes to the outside state of Jammu Kashmir. The J & K cell implements this scholarship to the students. The ministry that promotes this scholarship is the All India Institute of Technical Education (AICTE) for the students every year. The amount of scholarship awarded to all eligible students is 3Lakh per annum.
In one year, 5000 scholarships are granted by the AICTE. From that, 2070 scholarships are for General Degree courses, 2830 are for Professional/ Engineering and 100 for medical studies. The number of scholarships allotted for medical and engineering is flexible and is ceiled with the total number of fellowships for general degree courses. In addition, the scholarship is disbursed directly to the institution that the government claims as per the authority’s instructions. The amount paid will be within or less than the institution’s overall ceiling fixed for the course. Students who undergo degree in each category is classified a particular amount of scholarship as it would be for Professional/Engineering together the amount given is 1,25,000/- per annum, for General Stream, it would be 30,000/- per annum, and for Medical Stream it is 3,00,000/- per annum. These amounts are the ceiling offered together by the authority for the responsive candidate. Even if any more amount is to be paid by the student in the institute, the government shall issue it for the institute or the extra amount the parents can give to the institute.
