Course
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering is a doctorate level program.Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways.Civil engineering is traditionally broken into a number of sub-disciplines. It is considered the second-oldest engineering discipline after military engineering,and it is defined to distinguish non-military engineering from military engineering.Civil engineering takes place in the public sector from municipal through to national governments, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through to international companies.
Eligibility
- The candidate shall possess a Master Degree in Engineering / Technology / Management/ Science of VTU or any other University with minimum of 60% or equivalent Grade at Master’s Degree examinations. However, a relaxation to the extent of 10% shall be allowed to SC/ST or any other category as notified by the Government of Karnataka from time to time OR candidate with a minimum of five years experience in teaching or research, subject to the approval of VTU.
- A candidate satisfying the above criteria can meet the concerned Heads of the Departments for further information.
- In addition to the above, the candidate shall be qualified in the University Level Research Aptitude test, the result of which is valid for a period two years.
