Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2016 with the inception of AJIET, Mangaluru. The Department is offering under graduate courses (B.E) in Civil Engineering with an intake of 60 and Affiliated to VTU Belagavi. Department has got an experienced and highly dedicated faculty members. Nowadays a tremendous increase in demand for resources and acute shortage of the same is like a double edged sword. Codes and construction practices are emphasizing durability to cope with the situation. Hence UG curriculum strikes a balance between Engineering fundamentals and applications and thereby, preparing graduates for both research and professional practice in the Civil Engineering disciplines. Civil Engineering is an undergraduate engineering course.Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways.
Civil engineering is the broadest of the engineering fields. Civil engineering focuses on the infrastructure of the world which include Water works, Sewers, Dams, Power Plants, Transmission Towers/Lines, Railroads, Highways, Bridges, Tunnels, Irrigation Canals, River Navigation, Shipping Canals, Traffic Control, Mass Transit, Airport Runways, Terminals, Industrial Plant Buildings, Skyscrapers, etc. Among the important subdivisions of the field are construction engineering, irrigation engineering, transportation engineering, soils and foundation engineering, geodetic engineering, hydraulic engineering, and coastal and ocean engineering.

Candidates have to pass their 10+2 examinations or an equivalent examination from a recognized board. with 55% of marks to be eligible for this course.
