Course
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) English is a Ph.D program. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) English offered by Akal University Studies reflects the expansion, diversification and confluences at both the institutional level as well as in the dynamic disciplinary fields of literary and cultural studies and linguistics. The objective of the Department is to teach focused courses in these core areas at undergraduate and masters levels, and also a well-focused research program and post-doctoral levels. The main emphasis is to inculcate student’s professionalism, as part of a discipline with skills and abilities valuable in teaching, research, publishing and business. Further, the Department aims to give students a sense of themselves as citizens of a larger community by encouraging participation in service of learning.
Eligibility:
- Any candidate who has passed the Masters examination in the concerned subject with a score of not less than 55% or CGPA of 5.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent (50% or 5.0 CGPA for SC/ST/BC Category) in aggregate, or have appeared in the final year examination of Master’s degree in the subject concerned from Akal University, Talwandi Sabo or from any other University (approved by the appropriate Academic Bodies of A.U.), shall be eligible to appear for the Ph.D. Entrance Test.
- The students who have qualified UGC NET, or any similar examination/test conducted by a notified authority of the Government of India for the purpose, will be exempted from Ph.D. entrance test, subject to approval of the Vice-Chancellor.
