Course
M.Tech Hydraulics Engineering is a two-year post-graduate-level engineering program at APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University Thiruvananthapuram. The candidate must be B. Tech or BE in (Civil Engineering or equivalent or allied branches) graduate from a recognised institute. The course exposes the students to technological and scientific principles and engineering techniques related to the flow of fluids like water, sewage etc. APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University curriculum includes classroom training & practicals in Statistical Methods and Queuing Theory, Advanced Hydrology, Advanced Ground Water Hydrology, Water Resources System Analysis, Principles of Remote Sensing, Hydraulic Engineering Laboratory, Advanced Hydrology Analysis & Design, Hydro Systems Computational Laboratory, Environmental Aspects of Water Resources, Seminar, Project and Industrial Training. The electives are Flood and Drought Estimation and Management, Urban Water Resources Management, Groundwater Modeling and Management, Microwave Remote Sensing, Digital Photogrammetry, Advanced Photogrammetry, Non- Topographic Photogrammetry, Advanced Cartography, RS & GIS for earth sciences, Data Base Management System, GPS Surveying, RS and GIS For Hydrology and Water Resources, RS and GIS for Agriculture and Forestry, RS & GIS for Environmental Engineering, RS & GIS for Ocean Engineering and Coastal Management, RS & GIS for Disaster Management. The course completed engineers can work as Hydraulic Engineer, Process Design Engineer, Design Engineer, Project Manager, Project Engineer, Technical Consultant, Research Associate and Educator in various colleges, universities, research institutes, government organisations, water authorities, water plants, thermal power plants, sewage department, public water authority.
