Course
Post Basic Diploma in Cardiothoracic Nursing is a one-year course. The course provides intensive knowledge and clinical training in Cardiothoracic Nursing. Registered Nurses/midwives with one-year work experience and holds GNM/ B.Sc. Nursing or equivalent qualification can apply for this course. The purpose of this nursing course is to train nurses to manage, supervise and provide quality care to patients with cardiothoracic disorders. It also enables nurses to teach and support other allied health professionals and patient’s family members in areas related to cardiothoracic issues. They can also research cardiothoracic nursing. The syllabus covers concepts and principals of cardiothoracic nursing; advance cardiac life support skills; communicating effectively with patients having cardio-thoracic problems and their family; managing and organizing cardio-thoracic services/units; effective participation as a member of the cardiac team; conducting research. After the specialization, nurses can pursue their career as a nursing specialist, nursing supervisor, researcher, administrator and teacher in this field.

Eligibility:
Candidates ( Female ) for Admission to post basic Diploma nursing courses should have qualified in diploma in general nursing and midwifery or B.Sc. nursing or Post basic B.Sc. nursing and be a registered nurses and midwife in the Tamilnadu nurses and midwives council or equivalent.
