Basaveshwara College of Commerce, Arts & Science has been functioning since 1982. The establishment of the college was a result of the efforts of the members of the Sri Jagajyothi Basaveshwara Sahakara Sangha(N).The Sangha, which came into existence in 1959,was formed with the ideal of providing quality education at moderate cost. The focus of the endeavour is to empower and uplift the marginalized sections of society.
The college has the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management. The college has been re-accredited with a ‘B+’ grade by NAAC in 2017.
The college is centrally located and well-connected to all parts of the city. Housed in a large, spacious five-storeyed building, it has a large play-ground and well-equipped laboratories. The college library is well-stocked with over 26,000 books and photo copying facilities. The college receives grants from UGC and has adequate digital equipment to foster ICT - enabled teaching. The college is permanently affiliated to Bangalore University.
The college has good student-teacher ratio, and strives to provide personalized attention to the students. Committed staff members and a supportive management work in tandem to ensure that maximum benefits reach our students. The college strives towards academic excellence and makes efforts towards holistic development of the student by providing additional skill-development activities. Inter-class competitions and inter-collegiate competitions enrich their campus experience. Literary, cultural and sports activities, as also , seminars, conferences and workshops contribute to all-round learning. Moral integrity and human values are instilled in the growing young minds. In a nutshell, the college ensures that a student’s three-year stay in the college is fruitful and memorable. Admission Guidelines
Rules Regarding Admission
- Application for admission should reach the principal on or before the specified date.
- No Application shall be considered for admission unless accompanied by copies of :
b) Statement of marks obtained at the last examination.(Only Certified copies of the certificates should be attached. Originals should be submitted at the time of admission).
- Eligibility Certificate and Migration Certificates should be submitted in case of students coming from other states.
- The filled in application form should be returned to the office on or before the last date notified.
- A list of provisionally selected candidates will be announced on the college Notice Board. This is not an admission list nor does is entitle an applicant to admission. Such of the candidates, whose names are notified shall present themselves for interview with their parents/guardians. Admission will be finalized, by the committee constituted for this purpose, after personal interview.
- Candidates selected for admission should pay the prescribed fees and produce the originals of the transfer certificate and the statement of marks on or before the last date notified and should meet the principal to get themselves admitted. Belated application forms will not be considered.
- Admissions are provisional>They are subject to the approval of the Bangalore University.Students who are found to have obtained admission by false representations will be summarily dismissed with forfeiture of all the fees paid.

- Even if a student leaves the colleges in the middle of the term and requires the transfer certificate, he /she should pay the fees for the whole term.
- Fees once collected will not be refunded under any circumstances. Parents and students are particularly requested to keep this in view before seeking admission. If any student desires to discontinue,he/she should inform the principal in writing. The transfer certificate of the student will not be given to him/her in person but will be sent directly to the college where the student will seek admission, after collecting the transfer certificate fee.
Students should be regular in attending classes and should put in a minimum of 75% of attendance in theory and practical in each as per the regulations of the Bangalore University. The names of the students, who have shortage of attendance, will be notified once in two months. It is the responsibility of the students to note their attendance. Students should note that 25% shortage of attendance. Students should note that 25% of attendance will be condoned by the Bangalore University for normal illness of the students, accidents, unforeseen circumstances etc. No further concession on these grounds will be permitted. If a student falls short of the prescribed minimum of attendance, he/she will not be eligible to appear for the Bangalore University Examination.
Maximum period for completion of Degree:
A Candidate who joins the l Semester of the degree course should complete the degree within six years from the year of joining. Otherwise, he/she has to join the course afresh.
Placement
The College has an active placement cell. Database of all final year students is maintained and provided to prospective employers. Work-Shops are arranged to help students prepare their resume and teach them the skills of GD and interview facing. Campus recruitment programmes are held and some of our students have been recruited by good companies like TATA, HP and HDFC Bank during these campus recruitment drives.
In fact in the previous academic year, the college has been arranging for pre-placement training which focuses on Aptitude and Soft-skills. The course is conducted in co-ordination with IMS Learning Resources Pvt. Ltd. It has proved to be very helpful to the students.

Alumni
The college has a functional alumni association. The alumni meet periodically. This helps them to build a good network and help each other in taking up or changing jobs. They also inform the college about openings in their organizations and provide reference for new comer that is, their juniors, in obtaining jobs.
Further, some alumni have helped the college by pooling funds to install a water purifier-cum-cooler for student use. Some of them have also supported poor students by paying their fees. Students have benefitted greatly from guidance given to them by Alumni, while participating in inter collegiate cultural and sports competitions. Alumni are represented in the IQAC committee and give valuable suggestions in planning programmes.
