Course:
Master of Science in Nursing (M.Sc.) Mental Health Nursing is a PG Programme. Master of Science in Nursing (M.Sc.) Mental Health Nursing course offered by Chettinad College of Nursing Chennai . M.Sc. Mental Health Nursing is a two-year postgraduate course specialising in Mental health of patients. Patience, dedication and compassion for the patients and their family is a very critical skill needed for this specialisation. The course prepares them to be an aid in assessing, diagnosing and treating mental health problems like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse etc. The course also trains them to treat patients with violence, anger issues, grief and other adjustment issues. After diagnosing tests, they have to make a treatment plan and follow it. If necessary, they should administer medications and psychotherapy to the patient.
Duration: 2 years
Eligibility:
The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife of equivalence with any State Nursing Registration Council.
The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc.Hons. Nursing/ Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with not less than of 55% aggregate marks from an institution that is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
5% relaxation of marks for SC/ ST candidates.
Minimum one year of Work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
Minimum one year of Work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc Nursing.
The candidate shall be medically fit.
Eligibility Certificate: Candidates, who have passed any qualifying examination from any other University, shall obtain an Eligibility Certificate, from Chettinad Academy of Research and Education and produce the same at the time of admission and also remit recognition fee as prescribed.
