Bachelor of Arts (B.A) Applied Psychology in Applied Psychology is an undergraduate postgraduate program offered by Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth Kochi. The B.A. Applied Psychology Programme of Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth is developed to prepare students to meet the increasing demand for psychological understanding and application in diverse fields of service in India and abroad. It also aims at developing in students a deeper understanding of the growing discipline of psychology with an Indian perspective and promoting professional skill-based education. The main goal of this course is to facilitate self-discovery in the students and develop passion and effective participation in responding to the needs and challenges of the contemporary world.The B.A. Applied Psychology programme provides more importance to the humanities and subjective areas of the discipline of Psychology. Hence, the students will get more training in developing their technical skills in dealing with societal problems.After completing the programme, the students will be equipped with the unique skills and expertise in broad-based education and will be ready to take up their first job as a psychologist or it will facilitate for a higher degree in the chosen subject specialisation. The programme provides the students’ exposure to varied domains of applied psychology including Creative Writing, application of Psychological concepts, Counselling, Clinical, Organisational, Social and School Psychology, to name a few. The aim and objective of the programme are to prepare the students for a career in psychology by imparting theory and professional skills to work as a psychologist. Further, it enables students to build a career in psychology and allows them to derive great joy in professionally helping people who require psychological help and contribute to society.This programme is split into several components: foundation, proficiency, core, core-elective, and minor courses. The foundation course is a one-of-its-kind offering that provides learners with a basis for understanding the chaturdasha vidyasthana, the fourteen repositories of ancient Indian cultural traditions and knowledge systems. Unlike most programmes offered in this field, which only look at the chaturdasha vidyasthana in isolated parts, this will make students aware of the core ideas of each of these fourteen components, such that they can discern the ancient Indian way of thinking and analysing the world. Renowned texts like the Bhagavad Gita will be taught from different perspectives. The core courses cover important concepts in psychology so that students can acquire a sound basis from which to either approach further study or enter a professional career.In keeping with CVV’s elective model, this programme also offers various technical, applied, and interdisciplinary courses through the Minor mode in four available streams, wherein students can develop multi-dimensional skills. Additionally, courses in Yoga will prepare learners to face challenges mentally and physically.
