Course
Ph.D. Pharmacognosy is the study of plants and other natural sources as a possible source of new and natural drugs. It is the study of physical, biochemical, chemical and biological properties of drugs, potential drugs and drug substances. The study is not just concerned about the existent drug substance of natural origin, but also the search for new drugs from natural sources. The course encompasses the study of secondary metabolites that includes phenolic compounds, glycosides, terpenoids, and phytosterols that are derived from nature, inclusive of plants as well as terrestrial and marine animals and microbes. The course is offered as a two-year full-time study and as an M.Pharma specialization in select institutions in India.

Eligibility
A candidate with M. Phil Degree of this University or any other University recognized as equivalent there to in the concerned or cognate subject shall also be eligible for admission to the Ph. D Degree course
