Bachelor of Science in Optometry is an undergraduate program offered by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences Vijayawada. B.Sc Optometry is a 4-year degree program on vision care. It deals with examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the eye. The course also exposes the candidate to various medical optical instruments. The candidate should have passed 12th in science stream. The syllabus cover subjects like optometry; general and ocular biochemistry; clinical psychology; general and ocular physiology; general and ocular anatomy; hospital procedures; low vision aids; pharmacology; optometric instruments and clinical examination of the visual system; optometric and dispensing optics etc. After the course, the students can pursue a career as an Optician, Optometrist, Refractionist, Ophthalmic Assistant, or be an entrepreneur and start his optical shop or optical manufacturing unit.
