According to popular belief, the Siddha system of medicine is divine in origin. It is believed to have been passed on by the 'Siddhars', incarnations of God, to serve humanity. In Siddha, an individual is a microcosm of the universe, who body consists of 5 primordial elements earth, fire, water, air and space.
