Course
M.Sc. Psychiatric (Mental Health) Nursing is a two-year postgraduate course specialising in the mental health of patients. The applicant should have a bachelor degree in the relevant field. The syllabus covers advanced nursing practice, nursing education, mental health nursing, nursing management and nursing research & statistics. Patience, dedication and compassion for the patients and their family is a very critical skill needed for this specialisation. The course prepares them to be an aid in assessing, diagnosing and treating mental health problems like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance abuse etc. The system also trains them to treat patients with violence, anger issues, grief and other adjustment issues. After diagnosing tests, they have to make a treatment plan and follow it. If necessary, they should administer medications and psychotherapy to the patient. The course aims to create competent nurses to assume responsibilities as nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, administrators, educators and researchers.
Duration : 2 Years
Eligibility : The candidates must have pass standard degree course in Nursing with minimum 55 % of mark from a recognised institution
