B.E Mechanical Engineering is an undergraduate program. Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and broadest among engineering disciplines. The application base of Mechanical Engineering field of study is diverse and its scope is continuously expanding beyond the traditional boundaries. Mechanical Engineering applies the principles of Physics, Materials Science and Mathematics to the design, development, research, evaluation, manufacture, installation, testing, operation, maintenance and management of mechanical systems. Mechanical Engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided engineering and product life-cycle management to design, analyse and develop manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, and others.Mechanical Engineer thinks up,design,realizes new products and processes, improves and optimizes existing technologies.
The department has grown leaps and bounds with around 180 undergraduate students, currently being supported by a team of 12 highly enthusiastic faculty members and 01 trained technical staff member. The department at present offers Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering.The faculties strive to uplift level of economically weaker and backward section of the student community. and are also involved research activity of contemporary fields of Mechanical Engineering. A total of 300 students have graduated with Degree and have embarked on promising career path including jobs at industrial firms.
The Faculty members in the Department venture in diverse multidisciplinary fields including Design, mechanics, manufacturing, material science,, computational fluid mechanics, finite element modelling, composites, etc. are aptly supported by well equipped laboratories. Significant numbers of publications in various top multidisciplinary journals is an evidence of the flourishing research environment in the department. Department has received more than 20.0 lakhs of funding support from VGST Bangalore to establish development and analysis of resin based composites. The department was started in 2007 and is headed byProf.Anilkumar S Kallimani

Eligibility : Candidates who have passed in 10+2 Examination are eligible with 45% marks in aggregate with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Computer Science / Electronics / Biology, are eligible
