Course
M.Tech (Mechanical Engineering [ Engineering Design]) is a two-year post-graduate- level engineering program at Government Engineering College Thrissur. The candidate must be B. Tech, BE, MSc or equivalent graduate in relevant disciplines from a recognised institute. The program aims to build leaders in the industry, academics, and research areas specialised in designing, synthesising, and analysing various mechanical engineering systems. Government Engineering College Thrissur is affiliated to A.P.J.Abdul Kalam Technological University. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam Technological University curriculum includes classroom training & practical’s in Applied Mathematics For Design Engineers, Concepts of Engineering Design, Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing, Advanced Finite Element Analysis, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, Mechanical Vibrations, Design Analysis Lab, Advanced Mechanism Design, Advanced Materials Technology, Vibration Analysis Lab, Advanced Strength of Materials, Creep, Fatigue and Fracture, Design of Material Handling Equipment’s, Project, and Seminars. The electives include Design and Analysis of Experiments, Optimisation in Design, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Tribology in Design, Advanced Machine Tool Design, Product Design and Development Strategies, Robotics and Sensors, Composite Materials and Mechanics, Mechatronics in Manufacturing Systems, Theory of plasticity, Product Life Cycle Management, Quality Engineering and Non-Destructive Testing. After graduation, the students can find careers in companies like Wipro, 3Dplm, Larsen & Toubro, Volvo, Tata Cummins, BOSCH, GE, Hyundai, Abaqus, IGCAR, Renault, Ashok Leyland as Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Process Design Engineer, Researcher, and Engineering Design Consultant. They can also work in colleges, universities or do research.
