Course
MD Radiotherapy is a three-year postgraduate clinical medical program offered by Government Medical College (GMC), Kozhikode. Applicant must have passed MBBS from a recognised university and entrance exam. The course creates competent doctors specialised in radiation oncology to provide radiation treatments for patients of all ages for diseases or disorders like cancer, tumour, thyroid, blood disorders. Kerala University of Health Sciences syllabus consists of papers like Radiotherapy Pathology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Radiotherapy Physics, Urinary tract, Genital tract, Breast, Respiratory system, Childhood tumours, head & Neck, Mediastinum, Hematopoietic system, Geriatric Oncology, Skeletal system, Reticulo-endothelial system, central nervous system, skin, Gastro-Intestinal Tract, Principles of Cancer Chemotherapy, Details of the practice of Cancer chemotherapy as applied to human malignancies, Molecular and Genetic Oncology, Radiotherapy including radiobiology, Radioactive, isotopes, recent advances, imaging system and their use in the treatment planning, benign diseases, palliative & supportive care. Upon completion, the doctors can enter the educational field, do research or work in hospitals, clinics as Radiation Oncologist, Consultant Radiotherapist, Radiation Oncology Resident.
