Postgraduate Diploma in otorhinolaryngology (DLO) is a postgraduate diploma level course provided by the Government Medical College (GMC), Kozhikode. Otorhinolaryngology is a medical stream that deals with the disorders that affect the ear, nose, throat, neck and head. The course comprises the physiology and anatomy of the facial nerve, pathologies, management strategies in children and adults, diagnostic techniques and disorders. Government Medical College (GMC) is affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences Thrissur. Kerala University of Health Sciences contains a syllabus that includes subjects ear, audiology, nose and Para nasal sinuses, oral cavity, pharynx and oesophagus, larynx and tracheobronchial tree, skull base, neck, imaging and radiology, basic immunology, microbiology related to ENT, wound healing principle, intensive care in ENT principles, anaesthesia in ENT, biomaterials used in ENT, the principle of chemotherapy, the principle of use of nuclear medicine. The students can lead different job roles in their career, such as consultant ENT, otolaryngologist, ENT surgeon, lecturer, additional professor, medical content writer, research assistant etc.
