Course
The course is a research-based advanced study into the discipline of English literature, transcending cultures, periods, and genres. Contemporary literary theories and culture-based studies are included within the course’s scope .The program enables enrolled candidates to academically explore the language’s historical background in India, hurdles that impede English language and literature teaching in the country, and debates surrounding major works of literature in the language.Cultural differences in literary texts, hybridity of culture, thought, and ideas form an important part of the English literature, and consequently, its advanced, intensive scholarly exploration through this primarily research-based course.Analyses of elements of politics, philosophy, and sociology within the English literature, symbolism and semiotics, advanced meaning-related concepts such as Signified-Signifies are explored within the purview of academic research in this program. Genres of literature open for research for such scholars pervade beyond literary, and include non-literary, such as news, films, music, among others.
Duration : 2 Years
Eligibility
- Successful completion of post-graduation in English Literature.
- A minimum aggregate score of 55% at the level of post-graduation.
