B.E. Civil Engineering is an undergraduate engineering course.Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways.
Civil engineering is the broadest of the engineering fields. Civil engineering focuses on the infrastructure of the world which include Water works, Sewers, Dams, Power Plants, Transmission Towers/Lines, Railroads, Highways, Bridges, Tunnels, Irrigation Canals, River Navigation, Shipping Canals, Traffic Control, Mass Transit, Airport Runways, Terminals, Industrial Plant Buildings, Skyscrapers, etc. Among the important subdivisions of the field are construction engineering, irrigation engineering, transportation engineering, soils and foundation engineering, geodetic engineering, hydraulic engineering, and coastal and ocean engineeringDepartment of Civil Engineering of GNDEC is one of the oldest branch, started in the year 1980. The department has been imparting quality education to meet the technological advancement and industrial requirements. This has been made possible due to qualified faculty, state of the art laboratories and good infrastructures. The total student intake at present is 120. Providing state of the art education in civil engineering guided by innovative research , inclusive of technology and managerial skills for industry and social needs for sustainable development. In 2011 university examination, the department has secured 8th VTU rank.
Duration : 4 Years
Eligibility : Candidates have to pass their 10+2 examinations or an equivalent examination from a recognized board. with 55% of marks to be eligible for this course.
