Course
BE in Civil Engineering is an undergraduate course.The department of Civil Engineering at this institute was established in the year 2010-11 with an intake of 60 students and the intake was increased to 120 during the year 2014-2015. Since its inception the department has enjoyed the overall development in all aspects like admission, results, placements, well established laboratories, Qualified and Well experienced faculty and other infrastructure facility. In addition to academic activity, the department supports extracurricular activities.
Civil engineering is the broadest of the engineering fields. Civil engineering focuses on the infrastructure of the world which include Water works, Sewers, Dams, Power Plants, Transmission Towers/Lines, Railroads, Highways, Bridges, Tunnels, Irrigation Canals, River Navigation, Shipping Canals, Traffic Control, Mass Transit, Airport Runways, Terminals, Industrial Plant Buildings, Skyscrapers, etc. Among the important subdivisions of the field are construction engineering, irrigation engineering, transportation engineering, soils and foundation engineering, geodetic engineering, hydraulic engineering, and coastal and ocean engineering.
Civil Engineering is considered as one of the most globally accepted premier branches of Engineering. Due to impact of development in Technology, it has diversified into sub branches like Geo-Technical Engg to Structural Engg., Water Resource Engg. to Environmental systems, Infrastructural Technology to Geographical Information system (GIS). This branch of Engineering lays special emphasis on computational Construction Technology according to latest developments.
Eligibility
- Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the four years B. E degree Course should have passed the two years of P.U.C Examinations ( with Physics, Mathematics and any one of Chemistry / Biology / Computer Science / Electronics as Optional Subjects) conducted by the Pre - University Board Of Karnataka State or any Other Examination recognized as equivalent by the Visweswaraya Technological University and should have obtained not less than 45% of marks in the optional subjects.
- Candidates seeking admission to Second Year of the Four Year B. E Degree Course must have passed the three year Diploma Course of the Board of Technical Examination of Karnataka Government in the respective Branches / Courses or any other examination recognized as equivalent by the Visweswaraya Technological University and must have obtained less than 50% marks in the Final Diploma Examinations
- In case of Candidates belonging to SC/ST & Category I/II/III (Karnataka Students Only), the minimum percentage of marks shall not be less than 40% in the optional subjects as per rules.
