Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Electronics
A Ph.D. degree is an academic doctoral degree program awarded by universities. Also known as a doctorate, it allows the candidate of the degree to teach at college and university level in the field of study and is generally considered the highest degree.
Ph.D. in Electronics trains candidates to assess diverse techniques in different subject areas and aims to make them donors of new learning and knowledge, speculations, theories, and strategies in the picked branch of knowledge. Some subject areas secured under electronics include radio technology; acoustics, signal processing, component and materials technology, circuit and system design, electro-optics and biomedical engineering
Candidates admitted into the Ph.D. program are required to complete pre Ph.D. course work comprising two terms over a total duration of one year. The first two semesters (first year) of the Ph.D. program is devoted to course work. Successful completion of course work would confirm the registration. Two years after successful completion of course work, the student is eligible to submit the thesis.

Eligibility
- Candidate should hold a Master’s Degree (from a recognized university) in the relevant subject with a minimum of 55% (In the case of SC / ST candidates there will be a relaxation of 5%). Selection will be through an Entrance Test and Interview.
- Candidates who have passed UGC / CSIR / Fellowship holders shall be exempted from the Written Test; but they will need to take up the Interview.Candidates who are qualified for CA or ACS or ICWA with basic degree are also eligible to register for Ph.D. in this category
- Candidates who have qualified for Masters Degree prior to 1990-91 with no less than 50% marks are also eligible to register for Ph.D. programM.Phil. degree holders will get a waiver for part of the course work of Ph.D. program
- Candidates sponsored by organizations are also eligible to apply subject to their fulfillment of the above mentioned qualifications
- Candidates who hold a Masters Degree viz., M.Tech / M.Sc (Engineering) in Civil, Mechanical, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering (Structural or Associated disciplines) are eligible for the Ph.D. (Aerospace Engineering) Program.
