Master of Technology (M.Tech) Structures and Design Engineering
Course
Aerospace structures primarily refer to thin walled stiffened sheet configurations. The primary structural components are subjected to combined tension / compression, bending and torsional loads. First part deals with theory of elasticity solutions for all the structural elements. The course is conducted through the mechanics of bar, beam, two-dimensional plane stress / strain, asymmetric and three-dimensional configurations. The analysis is later extended to all configurations made of thin walled metallic structures. Basic differences are explained in the analysis of laminated composite structures. Theory of elasticity solutions for fracture mechanics, in elasticity effects in joints, computational methods and fatigue life estimations are highlighted.
