Course
Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is a branch of science applied to diagnose, treat and prevent diseases using clinical laboratory tests. This involves analysing body matter, including fluid, tissue and blood using micro-organism screening,chemical analysis and cell count.
B. Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology involves the study prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases by the utilisation of laboratory equipment to perform clinical tests. It is one of the most important parts of the healthcare system as it plays the role of diagnosis and collection of information required to provide the suitable and best medical facilities to the patient. Without the help of MLT, modern medicine would be incapable of providing the right treatment to its patients.
Eligibility
- Minimum eligibility for it is an intermediate (10+2) passed with science subjects or equivalent examination from a recognized University or Board.
- Candidates must have scored minimum of 55% aggregate to be eligible for admission to B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Technology course.
The undergraduate programme for B.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) is a three-year course. The qualification to take admission in this course is a score of minimum 55 per cent in 10+2. BMLT.

After the completion of the graduation or post-graduation, they can join any medical laboratory as a certified medical laboratory technologist and earn experience in their specialisations. The rise in a number of private hospitals, nursing homes, biochemical laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, pathological laboratories, and many more medical facilities has helped in increasing demand for a medical laboratory technologist. With sufficient experience, the medical laboratory technicians can occupy supervisory positions in laboratories and hospitals as Laboratory Manager, Hospital Outreach Coordinators, Laboratory Information System Analyst, Consultant, Health Care Administrator and Educational Consultant.
