The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2009 and it is one of the young and upcoming departments with high quality of teaching and learning aspects. The department has well qualified, dedicated and experienced staff members. Department is well equipped with excellent laboratory facilities and established good industry and institution relationship in the form of organizational membership with ACCE(I), Bangalore, ICI-KB centre and patron membership with Builders Association of India, Bangalore. The faculty of Civil Engineering Department actively participates in research, consultancy, and testing of building materials to cater the requirement of construction industry and presently the good numbers of faculty members are carrying out doctoral research (Ph.D) in the different areas. Department also organizes Value Added Programs to the students by organizing industrial visits, expert talks and workshops, to bridge the gap of theory and field practice of Civil Engineering through Civil Engineering Association (CEA).
B.E. Civil Engineering is an undergraduate engineering course.Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including public works such as roads, bridges, canals, dams, airports, sewerage systems, pipelines, structural components of buildings, and railways.
Civil engineering is the broadest of the engineering fields. Civil engineering focuses on the infrastructure of the world which include Water works, Sewers, Dams, Power Plants, Transmission Towers/Lines, Railroads, Highways, Bridges, Tunnels, Irrigation Canals, River Navigation, Shipping Canals, Traffic Control, Mass Transit, Airport Runways, Terminals, Industrial Plant Buildings, Skyscrapers, etc. Among the important subdivisions of the field are construction engineering, irrigation engineering, transportation engineering, soils and foundation engineering, geodetic engineering, hydraulic engineering, and coastal and ocean engineering.
Eligibility
Candidates have to pass their 10+2 examinations or an equivalent examination from a recognized board. with 55% of marks to be eligible for this course.
