The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering was established in the year 1997 for facilitating training in Instrumentation Engineering under Bangalore University. Presently, it is offering under graduate course in E & IE to cater curriculum as prescribed by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka, India. The Department is currently headed by Dr. D. Mahesh Kumar.
Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering is a multi-disciplinary undergraduate programme which deals with Science and Technology. The department is recognized as VTU research centre from 2011. Presently twelve research scholars have registered for Ph.D in the centre.
In today’s world of technological advancements, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering plays a vital role in aircraft instrumentation and control, digital signal processing, biomedical instrumentation and processing, distributed control systems, process controls and automation, robotics, embedded systems, MEMS technology etc.
Instrumentation Engineering is a specialised branch of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, primarily focussing on the principles and operations of measuring instruments used in the design and configuration of automated systems. Instrumentation technology helps create, construct and maintain measuring and control devices and systems found in manufacturing plants and research institutions.Instrumentation Engineering is the basis of mechatronics and robotics engineering. Its main objective is to ensure that systems and processes operate safely and efficiently.
Eligibility
As a minimum criterion of eligibility, candidates aspiring for admission to the course need to have attained the 10+2 or equivalent qualification with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects.
