Course
Masters of Arts in Development Economics is better known as M.A in Development Economics is a postgraduate degree that is recognized under Kannur University Kannur. The duration of this program is two years and is divided into four semesters. The course is based on the development of essential research skills, not only for further study in the field of development economics but also in practical development work. Students while studying this course should take three optional courses and complete a dissertation in an area of applied economics. The basic eligibility in doing this course is that the students must complete the under graduation in a similar category and with a minimum of 50% marks each on every subject. Kannur University shall possess a curriculum with topics such as Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Theory, Quantitative Techniques for Economic Analysis, Development issues of the Indian economy (With special reference to Kerala), Basic Econometrics, Environmental Economics, International Trade: Theory and Policy, Economics of Growth and Development, International Financial System, Dissertation/project work, Viva- Voc, List of Optional Papers- Business Economics, Demography, Mathematical Economics, Advanced Econometrics, Regional Economics, Industrial Economics, Local Level Planning, Agricultural Economics, Health Economics, Labour Economics, Development of Economic Ideas, Financial Markets, and Public Economics. The students can work in different areas such as Educational Institutes, Trade Centres, Banking sectors, Financing, Stock Exchanges, Audit Departments, and Business Development Consultancy. After studying this program the students can work on different job roles such as Business Studies & Economics Teacher, Content Developer, Research Analyst, Business Development Manager, Social Development Officer, Associate Professor, Freelance Academic Writer, and Economic Officer.
