Kannur University Kannur offers M.Sc Botany, a 2-year postgraduate degree program for those who have passed B.Sc Botany or degree in related subjects or equivalent course from a recognized university. An M.Sc Botany candidate studies plant life from different perspectives like biological, genetic, and chemical levels. The candidates deeply understand the plants and their functionalities along with the analysis of plant cells, tissues, and parts. M.Sc Botany serves as a significant course and makes the learners understand the plant kingdom, its importance in serving human life in various ways like providing oxygen, food, medicine and so on. University of Calicut curriculum includes topics like fungi and plant viruses, algae and bryophytes, pteridophytes, gymnosperms and palacobotany, microbiology, angiosperms(Taxonomy and biosystematics), angiosperms (morphology, embryology, and anatomy), genetics and cytogenetics, soil science and phytogeography, plant biochemistry, plant physiology, plant ecology, molecular genetics-genetic engineering and biotechnology, biostatistics-cytology and plant breeding, plant resource utilization and conservation and so on.
