About Us

Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College Hospital is established under the auspices of Karnataka Educational & Charitable Trust ®. It is a unit of SCS Group of Institutions, Mangalore. The college was established in the year 2002 and since then it has been the one and only Ayurveda College in the heart of the city of Mangalore. The college has a well-equipped and full-fledged hospital with both Out Patient Department (OPD) and In Patient Department (IPD). The hospital has160 beds for In-patients. The students are clinically trained in various departments of the hospital. Panchakarma Therapy, Ksharasutra Therapy, Gyanaec and Paediatric treatments, Surgical procedures, General Medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology, Neurological disorders, Chronic and acute conditions, diabetes, Obesity, Skin Diseases and other treatment procedures and consultation of Ayurveda and Modern specialists are available round the clock. The hospital is equipped with sophisticated diagnostic equipment. The college has its own campus with state-of-the-art infrastructure consisting of college building, hospital building, hostels, pharmacy, herbal garden, cafeteria, playground etc. The departments of the college are equipped with well-furnished museums, laboratories, class rooms, PG departments, audio-visual aids and state of the art library. At Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College, it is our vision to groom a cadre of high quality Ayurveda Healthcare Specialists and offer them back to society to nurture the healthcare needs of the community. Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College is approved by NCISM New Delhi, Government of Karnataka and affiliated to RGUHS Bangalore.

The College Library has a huge collection of books on varied subjects. Ample collection of CD's, several journals, magazines, publications and Helinet facilities are available in the Library. The library is a sprawling area where around 100 students can be accomodated at a time. For our students the KAMC Library is one of the most comprehensive learning centers on campus with a rich and vivid collection of reference and research material and books.

Admission Guidelines

Usually the Admission process for BAMS starts immediately after the 10+2(PUC) results, but advance seat reservations can be done before the 10+2(PUC) examination for management quota seats. The admission process for M.D. starts along with BAMS based on the eligibility criteria. The Admission to the course is purely on merit basis and the college offers best facilities for both theory and practical coaching as per the standards fixed by Apex Bodies governing Ayurveda. The candidates applying for Central and State Government quota are asked to look for Government notification in this regard. NEET/AIPGET is a must for both Management and Government quota  Candidate should have chosen Physics, Chemistry and Biology in his/her +2 and have secured minimum 50% aggregate to study the under graduate course.  Candidate should qualify in NEET for under gradation and in AIAPGET for post graduation  Management admission will be based on merit and NEET/AIAPGET ELIGIBILITY

About Principal

Dr. Sajith Mangalassery is the distinguished Principal ,CMO and Professor of Shalya Tantra at Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College and hospital. His career is dedicated to providing quality care and applying his knowledge and skills to excel in Ayurveda through academics, healthcare, and research, with an overarching goal to elevate Ayurveda to the forefront of the Indian healthcare system, making it a primary and integral part of mainstream medical practices. Dr. Sajith M.’s educational foundation includes an Ayurveda Vacaspati M.S.(Ayu) from RGUHS University, SDM Ayurveda college Udupi (2002), and an Ayurveda Acharya, B.A.M.S. from Mysore University, SDM Ayurveda medical college Hassan (1998). He is also a PhD Scholar at Parul University, Vadodara. His expertise is in Shalya Tantra, and his research focuses heavily on pain management, with his PG Thesis on the Effect of Agnikarma in Katisula (Thermal Cautery in the management of Lumbago) and his PhD thesis on the Effect of Dhattura patra coin therapy in Katigraha W.R.T. Lumbago. He has published articles on topics like Cupping Therapy and the role of Marma therapy and Agnikarma in managing Katigraha.

Prior to joining Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College, Dr. Sajith M. served as the Principal, CMO and Professor, Shalya Tantra Dept. at Alva’s Ayurveda Medical College, Moodubidire, Mangalore, Karnataka, from January 2021. Notably, he was also the Principal, Professor, Shalya Tantra at Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College, Palakkad, Kerala, where he successfully led the team for getting the 1st NABH accreditation (Medical college hospital category). His diverse experience includes serving as Vice principal, Deputy Medical Superintendent at Ahalia Ayurveda Hospital and holding various academic positions, including, HoD , Associate Professor and Assistant Professor of Shalya Tantra department. A key highlight of his career was working under the United Nations Interim Administration Mission, Kosova, European Union for six months in 2004, where he created awareness of the Indian system of medicine and yoga .He pioneered research in Osteoarthritis and Cancer using Rotational field Quantum Magnetic resonance (RFQMR). He is also a trained Lead Assessor of NABH AYUSH. Dr. Sajith M. is multilingual, proficient in English, Malayalam, Hindi, Konkani, Kannada, Tulu, Sanskrit, and Tamil. He has been an active voice in media, with appearances on talk shows on various TV and radio. Dr. Sajith M. stands out as one of the most efficient and senior figures among Ayurvedic physicians. With decades of dedicated practice and academic leadership, including his extensive administrative experience, he possesses a rare blend of scholarly depth and clinical mastery. Has experience in treating countless patients with chronic conditions to bring profound relief and positive outcomes to many.
