Traditionally,sculpture was the act of removing material in order to create a form. Adding additional material then manipulate or partially remove to create form was called modeling. Sculpture was considered the greater art form because mistakes were more difficult, if not impossible, to correct.The most enduring and, arguably, the greatest form of fine art known to man, sculpture has played a major role in the evolution of Western culture. Its history and stylistic development are those of Western art itself.
