Course
Doctorate degree in library and information science enables the students to conduct independent research and analysis, in order to understand the intricacies of cataloging of information making them easily accessible to the people. The course spans 2 years, divided into 4 semesters each conducted in an interval of 6 months. The course comprises a mix of theory and seminars. Candidates are required to submit a thesis at the end of the semester, the topic as decided by the respective college departments. Students after this course can have jobs related to planning and coordination of library’s financial operations. They can become library assistant, their main duties are accession, shelf arrangements, levying of fines, maintenance and binding of books and other materials.

Eligibility
- Candidates must hold an M.Phil. Degree or a post-graduate degree in a relevant field with an aggregate of 55%. (50% marks in case of SC/ST candidates)
- A master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 55% or an equivalent ranking from a recognized university along with a minimum of five years of experience in teaching or administration industry are eligible for the course
