Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) is an alternative medicine degree course offered by Luqman Unani Medical College & Hospital (LUMCH) Bijapur. The duration of this program is five and a half years with a one-year rotating internship. It comes under the Center Council of Indian Medicine and one among AYUSH- Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Homeopathy. Unani medicine originated in ancient Greece and is based on the principle of achieving a balance of the bodily fluids, the four humors (blood, phlegm, yellow bite and black bile), to have a healthy life. The Greek physician Hippocrates is known as the father of Unani medicine.
