Mahakavi Vennikulam Gopalakurup Memorial Polytechnic College, Vennikulam is the first professional institution in Engineering/Technology under Government Sector in Pathanamthitta district. The institution was established by the Government of Kerala in the year 1984 at Vennikulam in Puramattom Grama Panchayath of Mallappally Thaluk, which is a rural one. The institution started functioning in its own building in 1996. Pathanamthitta is a district with diversity in many factors. This district provides most of the Non-resident Indians as well as educationally backward classes including Adivasis. The campus of the college spreads over an area of 4.29 hectares of land in the banks of the river Manimala.
