Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam offers M. Com in banking, which is a two-year postgraduate degree for those who have successfully completed their B.Com degree or equivalent from a recognized institute. The program helps the candidates to learn about the banking sector and related areas including banking policy, banking law, commercial bank management, financial markets, investment management, taxes(direct and indirect), international banking and so on. The course mainly includes commerce,which is necessary for the better understanding about banking and accounts.Mahatma Gandhi University curriculum includes topics like Commercial Bank Management, Business Policy & Strategic Management, Economics of Global Trade and Finance, Financial Service,and many more. Other topics like Investment Management, Research Methodology,Financial Markets in India and International Finance are included in the course to have better understanding of concepts. The Changing Role of Indian Banks, history of banking sector- that is Pre-nationalization and Post-nationalization Phases, Role and Functions of Commercial Banks, and so on are also included and are considered to be a little complex topics of this course. Candidates will be able to learn about different functions of the banking management like Planning, Organizing Controlling, Directing, and so on. Regarding the areas of employment, the candidates could join private banks, foreign banks, government banks and other financial organizations as their choice and suitability.
