Course
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Optometry is an undergraduate program offered by Mangala College of Allied Health Sciences Mangaluru. Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Optometry is a 4-year undergraduate degree program on vision care. It deals with examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the eye. The course also exposes the candidate to various medical optical instruments. The candidate should have passed 12th in science stream. The syllabus cover subjects like optometry; general and ocular biochemistry; clinical psychology; general and ocular physiology; general and ocular anatomy; hospital procedures; low vision aids;pharmacology; optometric instruments and clinical examination of the visual system;optometric and dispensing optics etc. After the course, the students can pursue a career as an Optician, Optometrist, Refractionist, Ophthalmic Assistant, or be an entrepreneur and start his optical shop or optical manufacturing unit.
Duration: 4 year (3 year+1 year Internship)
Eligibility
Candidates should have passed their higher secondary examination (+2)with Science subjects Physics, chemistry, Biology and Maths.
