Course
Master of Education or M.Ed. is a Postgraduate course which deals with the methodology of educational research and experimentation of new techniques of teaching. This course particularly introduces you to new levels of teaching processes.
M.Ed. is a specialized program for potential educators or for those with a bachelor degree in education seeking an in-depth knowledge of the field. This program focuses on various aspects of education as a stream and area of research. Thus it covers sub-fields such as administration, curriculum, instruction, leadership, counselling and educational technology.
This course churns out leaders in the field of education as it focuses on multiple aspects of education and training. Moving ahead from what comprises a curriculum at Bachelor’s level, this program encompasses cultural, sociological and political aspects of education. Some of the topics covered are classroom techniques, instructional technologies, cross-cultural awareness, sociological and political issues in education.
Eligibility
Candidates seeking admission to the M.Ed. Programme should have obtained at least 50% marks or an equivalent grade in the following programme.
- B.Ed. ( 1 or 2 years duration)
- B.A. B.Ed. or B.Sc. B.Ed.
- B.El.Ed.
- D.El.Ed. with an undergraduate Degree (with 50% marks in each).

Potential Scope for M.Ed Course!
The M.Ed. course has wide scope and opens up a number of avenues. Being a post graduate course, it definitely enhances the academic faculties of students and prepares them to be better and competent teachers. These graduates will have the opportunity to join B.Ed. Colleges as faculty members or the research wing of the universities at the state and national level, or be project assistants at state and national level institutes. They can register themselves for Ph.D. or M.Phil. Courses. An M.Ed. student will be a definite preference to a B.Ed. graduate for a post in a secondary school. A post graduate with an M. Ed. degree will always be the first choice at the Plus two levels. The intellectual competencies and special skills needed of a teacher will be augmented by this course and open the way for a teaching or research post in favoured institutions. The training given to the students in this M.Ed. course will equip them to independently take on research projects, and consequently, handle individual projects from government and non-government institutions
