Course
B.Sc Food Technology is a three-year science undergraduate program offered by MES Arts and Science College Perinthalmanna. The course produces professionals to handle various roles in the food industry from manufacturing the food to safely distribute the processed,packaged, labeled, quality-checked food containers. University of Calicut syllabus includes classroom training and practical's in English, Applied Chemistry, Business Mathematics, Environmental Chemistry, Food Chemistry Lab, Food Analysis Techniques, Principles of Food Science, Introduction to Biochemistry, Biochemistry Lab, Food Microbiology,Contamination and Spoilage of Food, Processing of Cereals, Fruits, Vegetables &Beverages, Food and Nutrition, Food Additives, Food Microbiology Lab, Technology of processing Fish, Meat & Poultry, Food Preservation Technology, Food Waste Management, Food Analysis Lab, Food Processing Lab, Internship, Food Process Technology - Milk and Dairy Products, Bakery, Confectionary and Miscellaneous products, Food Adulteration and Food Toxicology, processing of Oils and Fats, Fermented Food, Project. On completing the degree, the students can work in government and private food-related organizations, diaries, food processing units, food manufacturing units, academic institutes as food quality inspector, food technologist, diary processing manager, food production controller, food processing coordinator, food packaging specialist, food lab research assistant, and instructor.
