The Department of Information Science and Engineering (IS) at NDIET is a unit within the College of Engineering. The mission of the Department consists of three interrelated components: providing the highest quality instruction to our undergraduate and graduate students, conducting leading-edge research in information science and engineering, and providing leadership and service to our professional communities. We are committed to excel in all three components of this mission. The department has highly qualified and experienced faculty to offer both class room teaching and practical instructions. Special attention is bestowed on the project work of final year students. Short term courses and technical lectures by eminent professors and professionals are arranged regularly to broaden the knowledge of students.
B.E. Information Science and Engineering is an Under-Graduation course.Information science focuses on understanding problems from the perspective of the stakeholders involved and then applying information and other technologies as needed. In other words, it tackles systemic problems first rather than individual pieces of technology within that system.It also throws light on how to analyse and interpret the raw data. It is an academic field which is primarily concerned with analysis, collection, classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval, movement, dissemination, and protection of information.
Duration: 4 yearsEligibility
- Admission for First year course is open to the students who have passed the Two year Pre-University Examination (Science) conducted by Karnataka State Pre-University board.
- 10+2 the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E), I.C.S.E. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as optional subjects and English as subject of study.
- Those who have passed any other examinations recognized by VTU as equivalent there to. The candidate should have secured a minimum of 45% Marks aggregate in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Electronics/Biology/Computer Science of Second Year Pre-University Examination, or at the end of 12th Year Public Examination.
