Course
Mechanical Engineering Engineering is a core branch of Engineering and is known to be ever green branch. At present, the department has an intake of 60 and faculty student ratio is 1:12.This branch of Engg. emphasizes on Design,Materials & manufacturing. Thermal Engg. and also interdisciplinary areas like CAD/CAM/CAE, Automation, Operations Research, Mechatronics, FEM, Managerial aspects of industry etc. By the time our students come to final year,the department will be unique in nature with an overall built-up area with sate of the laboratory facilities and the best of furniture for classrooms and laboratories.
B.E Mechanical Engineering is an undergraduate program. Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and broadest among engineering disciplines. The application base of Mechanical Engineering field of study is diverse and its scope is continuously expanding beyond the traditional boundaries. Mechanical Engineering applies the principles of Physics, Materials Science and Mathematics to the design, development, research, evaluation, manufacture, installation, testing, operation, maintenance and management of mechanical systems. Mechanical Engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided engineering and product life-cycle management to design, analyse and develop manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, and others.Mechanical Engineer thinks up,design,realizes new products and processes, improves and optimizes existing technologies.

Eligibility
- Admission for First year course is open to the students who have passed the Two year Pre-University Examination (Science) conducted by Karnataka State Pre-University board.
- 10+2 the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E), I.C.S.E. with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as optional subjects and English as subject of study.
- Those who have passed any other examinations recognized by VTU as equivalent there to. The candidate should have secured a minimum of 45% Marks aggregate in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Electronics/Biology/Computer Science of Second Year Pre-University Examination, or at the end of 12th Year Public Examination.
- The B.Sc. Graduates are also considered eligible for admission to First Year B.E. Course if they have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of subjects.Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Physics, Mathematics and Electronics / Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science
