Course
The Department of Information Science and Engineering introduced a PG program in Computer Network Engineering with an intake of 18 students in the year 2012. The Program is approved by AICTE and Government of Karnataka and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Karnataka. Computer Networks and Engineering is a very important field in our digital and networked world. There is growing demand for professionals with knowledge and experience in communication networks, related standards and trends, network protocols and network security.
A computer network is a group of computers that use a set of common communication protocols over digital interconnections for the purpose of sharing resources located on or provided by the network nodes. The interconnections between nodes are formed from a broad spectrum of telecommunication network technologies, based on physically wired, optical, and wireless radio-frequency methods that may be arranged in a variety of network topologies.
Eligibility
To be eligible candidates should have BE / B.Tech /AMIE in Computer Science / Information Science / Electronics & Communication Engineering / Telecommunication Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering degrees and should have secured not less than 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates who are in the SC/ST/Group 1 students should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate. Admissions are done through central counseling on the basis of merit in PGCET or GATE. A few seats are also available under sponsored and Management quota. GATE qualified candidates are eligible for scholarship through AICTE.
