Course
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering offers a two-year PG program in Digital Communication and Networking since the year 2012 with an annual intake of 18 students. This PG program is affiliated to VTU, Belgaum. Students take courses related to communication engineering and networking concepts. The program is over four semesters. The third semester is dedicated to the Internship program. During the fourth semester, students take up project work per the university guidelines. The students can take up the internship and project work, at various public and private sectors or at institutes of higher learning like IISC Bangalore. Students can also do their internship and project work in research labs at NMIT. The research Center for Small Satellite Research and the Center for Nano-materials and MEMS have state-of-the-art infrastructure.
Digital Communication Network (referred to as DigiComNet or DCN) is a non-profit communication association.The Course introduces the concepts of computer network technology and the principles that make it work.The program presents the concepts of computer network technology and the principles that influence it to work. Concepts will be represented by studying technologies utilized in metropolitan area networks, broad area networks and local area networks. This course is primarily concept oriented. No computer programming assignments are planned.
Eligibility
Admission to M.Tech course shall be open to candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying examination (B. E./B.Tech) as specified in ANNEXURE with not less than 50% marks in aggregate of all the all the semesters/years of the degree examination. (Cumulative sum of secured marks of all the semesters/ years divided by the sum of maximum marks). However, in case of candidates from Karnataka belonging to SC/ST and Category-1, aggregate marks shall not be less than 45%.
