Course
B.Sc. Anesthesia & Operation Theater Technology is an undergraduate program. The students will be able to assist doctors in ICUs, emergency wards, and operation theatres. They are basically allied healthcare professionals. The main objective of B.Sc. in Anaesthesia Technology course is to equip students with the knowledge of anaesthetic equipment, their usage and how to monitor the patients.
Eligibility
- Pass in 10+2 with 40% in Physics, Chemistry & Biology and English as one of the languages of study. Candidates with more than 60% marks in the optional subjects will be preferred.
- The candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on December 31 of the year of admission.
Duration: 3 years
Career opportunities
- The Operation, Theatre technician mainly assists the Anaesthesiologist and Surgeons in preparing and managing the patient for surgery during pre-operative, operative and post-operative periods.
- He is required to keep all the anaesthesia and surgical equipments as well as drugs ready as and when required by anaesthesiologists and surgeons. Maintaining anaesthesia records is also the responsibility of the technicians.
- The OT equipments like anaesthesia machine, diathermy, endoscopic / laparoscopic (key hole abdominal surgery)/ arthroscopic (key hole joint surgery) equipments are also under direct care of technicians.
Career prospects
- Technical assistant in OT for all surgical specialties including general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, OBG, etc.
- Can specialize in Cardiac OT, Neuro Surgery OT, Laparoscopy OT and other Super Speciality OT techniques.
- Eligible to pursue studies in Respiratory Technology in Intensive Care, Perfusion Technology for Cardiac Surgeries etc.
