About Us
Omsk State Medical University is one of the oldest universities in Siberia; it considers 1920 to be the date of its foundation. By the decision of the Sibrevkom Organizing Bureau of November 8, 1920, a medical department was organized at the Siberian Veterinary and Zootechnical Institute in Omsk, which enrolled 186 students. In 1921, the State West Siberian Institute was established, the first rector of which was N.K. Ivanov-Emin. In 1924, the university was renamed the Omsk State Medical Institute.
