Pazhassi Raja College Pulpally offers M.Sc Biochemistry, a two-year postgraduate course in Biotechnology for those who have completed their graduation in biochemistry or related subjects or equivalent course from a recognized university. Biochemistry is a branch of science that gives awareness about various chemical processes in living organisms. It includes all living processes and living organisms. Biochemistry deals with cellular components like carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, nucleic acids and other bio-molecules, their structures and functions. The program intends to provide an awareness about every aspect of the function and structure of living,to utilize the understanding for the benefit of human being. Pazhassi Raja College is affiliated to University of Calicut. University of Calicut curriculum includes topics such as cell biology and physiology, structure and function of biomolecules, enzymology, bioenergetics and intermediary metabolism, nutritional and clinical biochemistry, plant biochemistry, molecular biology, introductory microbiology, immunology, basic biotechnology, and so on. The various employment areas related to the sector are pharmaceutical industries, diagnostic centres, biotechnology firms, research laboratories, diagnostic centres, healthcare centres and clinical laboratories, medical transcription, and much more. The PG students after completing the study could be employed as a lecturer in biochemistry, Consultant-Clinical biochemistry, assistant professor in biochemistry, reader, medical laboratory technician, technician, and, such others.
