M.A Arabic is a nontechnical full-time postgraduate course that occurs for two years and divides into four semesters. It is offered in the University of Calicut. The system is formulated to brushes up the linguistic skills and develop a skillful understanding of Arabic. The basic eligibility for this course is that students must have a relevant graduate degree from a recognized university. Pookoya Thangal Memorial Government College Perinthalmanna is affiliated with the University of Calicut. The University of Calicut shall possess a curriculum with topics such as Classical Prose, Modern Prose, Classical Poetry, Modern Poetry, History of Arabic Literature (up to Umayyad Period including Andalusian Literature) – I, History of Arabic Literature (Abbasid Period & Modern Period) -II, Translation & Communicative Skills – I, Translation & Communicative Skills – II, Literary Criticism & Rhetorics, One of the Elective Courses to be chosen from the following: Research Methodology, Paper Writing, and Presentation Arab Civilization, Arabic Literature by Indians History of Islam (622 A.D. to 750 A.D.), Translation & Communicative Skills – III, Drama, Linguistics, Novel, Use of Computer in Advanced Translation in Arabic Composition, Press Report Writing & Group discussion in Arabic. Students can work on different job roles after studying this program. They can be a Teacher/Lecturer/Professor, Associate Professor - Special Arabic, Journalist/Editor, Poet/Story or Novel Writer/Article Writer, Arabic Coordinator, Content Writer Arabic, Translator, etc.
