Course
Master of Science in Psychiatric Nursing is a postgraduate program offered by Raja Rajeswari College of Nursing Bengaluru. M.Sc. Psychiatric Nursing is a two-year course which focuses on the mental health of patients. The applicant must have a bachelor degree in nursing. The curriculum aims to cover advanced nursing practice, nursing education, mental health nursing, nursing management and research & statistics. The course brings out competent nurses who are capable of assessing, diagnosing and treating mental health problems like depression, anxiety,bipolar disorder, substance abuse etc. They are also expected and trained to treat patients with violence, anger issues, grief and other adjustment issues. After diagnosing, they have to implement a treatment plan and practice it. They should administer medications and psychotherapy to the needed patient. The course brings out professionally expert nurses to assume the role of nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, administrators, educators and researchers in different health care facilities.
