Course
The Department of Information Science and Engineering (ISE) was established in the year 1992 with an objective of producing high-quality professionals to meet the demands of the emerging field of Information Science and Engineering. The department started with UG programme with an annual sanctioned intake of 30 students and the intake was enhanced to 60 seats in the year 1999, to 90 seats in the year 2001 and then to 120 seats in the year 2008. The department UG program was accredited for the first time for three years in the year 2001. Subsequently it was accredited in the years 2004, 2010, 2015. The department started M.Tech in Software Engineering with 18 seats in the year 2004 and enhanced the intake to 30 in 2014.
B.E. Information Science and Engineering is an Under-Graduation course.Information science focuses on understanding problems from the perspective of the stakeholders involved and then applying information and other technologies as needed. In other words, it tackles systemic problems first rather than individual pieces of technology within that system.It also throws light on how to analyse and interpret the raw data. It is an academic field which is primarily concerned with analysis, collection, classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval, movement, dissemination, and protection of information.
Eligibility
- A candidate who has passed 10 + 2 pattern of examination (equivalent to the two year Pre University in Karnataka) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Electronics as optional subjects in the qualifying examination is eligible to pursue an undergraduate degree in engineering at MSRIT.
- The eligibility for admission is 45% in case of General Category and 40% marks in the qualifying examination in case of SC/ST, Category-1 and OBC Category candidates. The marks obtained by the candidate in Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Electronics in the qualifying examination will be considered in the place of Chemistry in case the marks obtained in Chemistry is less for the required aggregate percentage for the purpose of determination of eligibility (and not for the purpose of determination of rank, in respect of engineering/technology courses).
