BSMS- Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Surgery is a medical degree course offered by RVS Siddha Medical College Kannampalayam which is equal to MBBS degree. Siddha medicine is an alternative medical practice developed by Siddhas of ancient South India. According to Siddha medicine, the physiological and psychological factors of the human body are controlled by seven elements and these seven elements are activated by three mukkuttram (air, fire, water). The imbalance of these mukkuttram creates health problems and specially formulated century-old Siddha medicines corrects it. RVS Siddha Medical College Kannampalayam is affiliated to Tamilnadu Dr.MGR University Chennai. The Tamilnadu Dr.MGR University Chennai curriculum follows centuries-old medical records made by ancient physicians (Siddhas). Tamilnadu Dr.MGR University Chennai curriculum covers the history and fundamental principal of Siddha medicine, medical botany and pharmacognosy, anatomy, materia medica-plant kingdom, materia medica- metals, minerals and animals, physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, Siddha pathology, principals of modern pathology, forensic medicine and toxicology, varmam therapy external and special medicines, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics.
