The Information Science & Engineering programme at SAIT was started in 2001, and is designed to prepare students to gain extensive knowledge of tools and techniques of information processing. These days we need connectivity of data across the globe and we need it at the click of the mouse. That is the challenge Information Technology has to meet. The department is well known for consistent performance in academic results and placement.The department offers an undergraduate course of eight semesters, as per the VTU syllabus leading to a bachelor’s degree in information science.
B.E. Information Science and Engineering is an Under-Graduation course.Information science focuses on understanding problems from the perspective of the stakeholders involved and then applying information and other technologies as needed. In other words, it tackles systemic problems first rather than individual pieces of technology within that system.It also throws light on how to analyse and interpret the raw data. It is an academic field which is primarily concerned with analysis, collection, classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval, movement, dissemination, and protection of information.

Eligibility
- Pass in 10+2equivalent board examination with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry/Biotechnology/Computer Science/Biology//Electronics as recognized by V.T.U.
- Minimum 45% aggregate in Science. (40% for SC/ST and other OBC students applicable to Karnataka students).
